APCEIU has published the book Playing for Our Common Goals as Global Citizens: Lessons from Soccer for secondary school-aged students with support of the Republic of Korea Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This book was originally published in 2004 in Korean under the title, “Learning Global Citizenship through Soccer”. Its original contents were revised to incorporate changes in the global society that have occurred since, and translated in order to expand readership. By integrating GCED into the familiar topic of soccer, this material aims to introduce GCED, which is often perceived as an abstract or difficult concept, as an easily approachable topic for young readers around the world. The book uses soccer as a medium to explain topics related to global citizenship, such as discrimination, climate change, and human rights.

By publishing this book during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, APCEIU hopes to remind its readers of values beyond competition that are embedded in soccer, such as solidarity and cooperation.
